Mataram, Indonesia – The University of Mataram (UNRAM) and Islamic Relief Canada continued their successful collaboration through the 2024 Inspire Program for Orphans in Lombok, held from October 4 to October 7 at the M Yusuf Abubakar Auditorium. This impactful event brought together 60 orphans from Lombok and supported by donors from around the world, including 28 participants from diverse countries such as Canada and the United States, as well as five UNRAM student volunteers who assisted as translators and event supporters.

The Inspire Program is designed to uplift and bring joy to orphaned children by engaging them in various recreational and bonding activities. This year, the participants enjoyed a trip to a local amusement park and a shopping outing, creating moments of happiness and connection.

Mr. Nanang Dirja Subana, Country Director for Islamic Relief Indonesia, attended the event and expressed his gratitude to UNRAM for its continued support. “We are thankful to the University of Mataram for facilitating this program in Lombok, which is currently the only island in Indonesia where the Inspire Program takes place. It is through partnerships like these that we can bring hope and joy to those who need it most,” he stated.

In her closing remarks, Dr. Dewi Satria Elmiana, Secretary of the Office of International Affairs at UNRAM, expressed her gratitude and optimism for the continued partnership. “We are honored to be part of this heartwarming program that brings joy to the children and fosters an enduring bond between our institutions. We hope to maintain this collaboration, which aligns with our university’s goals for meaningful community engagement,” she stated.

Dr. Tarek Faid, Volunteer Abroad Manager for Islamic Relief Canada, expressed his appreciation for UNRAM’s invaluable support. “The University of Mataram has been an exceptional partner in this endeavor, and we are grateful for their commitment to this program. It is partnerships like these that make it possible for us to make a lasting impact,” Dr. Tarek shared.

This program, now in its second year, highlights the strong relationship between the University of Mataram and Islamic Relief Canada. Their ongoing collaboration reflects a shared vision of improving the lives of vulnerable children and providing them with memorable experiences. The involvement of UNRAM student volunteers has further enriched the program, fostering cross-cultural understanding and connection.
