The University of Mataram (UNRAM) hosted a meeting with Prof. Jan Ženka, Professor at the Department of Social Geography and Regional Development, Faculty of Science, University of Ostrava, Czechia, as part of his visit to Indonesia to explore potential academic cooperation between the two universities.

The meeting was held on Thursday, 22 January 2026, and was attended by the Vice Head of the Office of International Affairs (OIA), Dr. Dewi Satria Elmiana, the OIA Coordinator, as well as representatives from the International Relations Study Program and the Sociology Study Program of UNRAM.

During the visit, Prof. Ženka expressed his interest in initiating student exchange cooperation through the Erasmus scheme. He also conveyed his intention to further explore other possible forms of collaboration in the future, including broader academic and research-related cooperation.

The International Relations and Sociology Study Programs warmly welcomed the proposed collaboration and expressed their readiness to support the development of joint academic activities. As an initial step, UNRAM plans to proceed with the signing of a desk-to-desk Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions. Following the MoU signing, an online meeting involving the relevant study programs will be arranged to discuss more concrete and technical aspects of the cooperation.

This visit marks an important step in strengthening UNRAM’s international partnerships and reflects its ongoing commitment to expanding global academic networks and opportunities for students and academic staff.
