The University of Mataram (UNRAM) welcomed a delegation of 11 professors and researchers from Taiwan on Friday, February 6, 2026, in a visit aimed at exploring potential academic collaboration between the two institutions. The meeting was held at the Prof. Morisco Meeting Room, Faculty of Engineering (3rd Floor) and was attended by more than 100 participants, including UNRAM students and faculty members.
The visiting delegation represented several leading institutions in Taiwan, including National Central University (NCU), National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), and National Chengchi University (NCCU). The purpose of the visit was to engage in academic discussions on potential collaboration in the fields of education, research, and community service, as well as to strengthen mutual understanding and long-term institutional partnerships.
The delegation consisted of the following professors and researchers
Prof. Chien-Chia Wang (NCU) – Protein translation, biomedical science and engineering
Assoc. Prof. Fu-Guo Liu (NCU) – Biogeography
Assoc. Prof. Shu-Dan Yeh (NCU) – Evolutionary genetics and genomics
Assoc. Prof. Fei-Tin Hsu (NCU) – Medical imaging analysis and cancer research
Dr. Ya-Hui Chi (NHRI) – Biotechnology and pharmaceutical research
Dr. Hsiu-Jung Lo (NHRI) – Infectious diseases and vaccinology
Dr. Hwei-Hsien Chen (NHRI) – Neuropharmacology
Dr. Su-Ying Wu (NHRI) – Biotechnology and pharmaceutical research
Dr. Yu-Wen Su (NHRI) – Immunology research
Dr. Ya-Wen Chen (NHRI) – Cancer research
Prof. Ming-Huan Chan (NCCU) – Neuroscience
The event was attended by Vice Head of the Office of International Affairs (OIA), Dr. Dewi Satria Elmiana, OIA coordinators, and university representatives, including Prof. Akmaluddin, ST., M.Sc.(Eng), Ph.D., Vice Rector for Planning, Collaboration, and Information Systems.
It was also attended by apt. Candra Dwipayana Hamdin, S.Farm., M.Sc., Ph.D., an alumnus of the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI) and a lecturer at the Pharmacy Study Program, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Mataram, who contributed to strengthening academic and alumni ties between the institutions.
In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Akmaluddin warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed UNRAM’s strong interest in pursuing further collaboration following the visit, particularly in the areas of joint research, academic exchange, and international partnerships. Representing the visiting delegation, Prof. Chien-Chia Wang (NCU) conveyed his appreciation for the warm reception and emphasized the importance of strengthening academic cooperation between institutions in Taiwan and Indonesia.
The program continued with a series of 10-minute presentations by each visiting professor, during which they presented their published journals and ongoing research projects. After the presentation session, the event proceeded with a consultation and interview session for UNRAM students and lecturers interested in applying to Taiwanese universities. Participants were also guided on potential scholarship opportunities and research-based academic pathways aligned with their interests.
This activity is expected to serve as a strategic bridge for more than 100 participating students and faculty members to gain direct access to international academic networks, while laying the foundation for future collaboration and opportunities for pursuing higher education and research abroad.
