Mataram – July 1, 2024 University of Mataram (UNRAM) is proud to announce a significant collaboration with the city of Taketa, Japan, to provide invaluable internship opportunities for its Civil Engineering students. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Taketa government to address the challenges posed by the country’s low birth rate and increasing elderly population.

Mr. Masahiro Doi, the Mayor of Taketa, emphasized the importance of this program in addressing the city’s employment needs. “In light of our demographic challenges, we are committed to finding innovative solutions to ensure the sustainability of our workforce. Partnering with institutions like the University of Mataram allows us to bring in fresh talent and perspectives that are vital for our companies,” said Mayor Doi.

The partnership with the University of Mataram was established following the successful internship of two UNRAM students in Taketa. Their hard work, passion, and positive attitude impressed the host companies, leading to a broader collaboration. Prof. Bambang, the Rector of the University of Mataram, expressed his confidence in the program, stating, “We are committed to selecting the best quality students who exhibit hard work, passion, a positive attitude, and adaptability.”
