Mataram, April 12, 2025 — The University of Mataram (UNRAM) warmly welcomed a delegation from Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore, comprising 24 students and 2 lecturers, during their recent visit to Lombok. The visit aimed to strengthen academic partnerships and foster cross-cultural understanding between the two institutions.
The program began with a campus tour, where the Temasek Polytechnic delegation explored several key areas of the University of Mataram, including faculty buildings and the sports center, using electric bicycles. Following the tour, the group proceeded to the Faculty of Food and Agroindustrial Technology, where the official welcoming session was opened by the Dean.
During the session, Ms. Goh Qiu Ting, lecturer at Temasek Polytechnic, expressed her sincere appreciation for the warm reception extended by the University of Mataram. She also conveyed her hope that this meaningful exchange could become an annual agenda, further enhancing collaboration between the two institutions — particularly in the fields of technology and applied sciences.
The visit continued with an engaging hands-on session in one of the faculty laboratories, where students participated in bread-making activities, guided by lecturers and local students from the Faculty of Food and Agroindustrial Technology.
The delegation later gathered at the University’s Senate Meeting Room for a series of cultural and interactive programs, including a cultural fashion show, a quiz competition highlighting facts about Indonesia and Singapore, and a traditional Sasak dance workshop.
Alongside the visiting students, the University of Mataram had prepared 17 local student companions to facilitate the program, promote friendship, and assist with cultural exchange throughout the event. As the program concluded, students from both institutions exchanged souvenirs and social media contacts, symbolizing the beginning of lasting cross-border friendships.
Through this collaborative initiative, both Temasek Polytechnic and the University of Mataram aim to further strengthen institutional ties, expand academic cooperation, and promote cultural understanding between Indonesia and Singapore.
