Mataram, July 29, 2025 – Universitas Mataram (Unram) welcomed a delegation from Universität Kassel, Germany, on Wednesday, July 29, 2025, at the Rector’s Meeting Room. The visit marked the beginning of a collaboration for a project titled “Exploring Critical Sustainable Development Education from Global Perspectives”, which will run from 2025 to 2029.
The Kassel team included Dr. Ellen Christoforatou, Prof. Dr. Nina Skorsetz-Gumprecht, and Prof. Dr. Claudia Schlaak. They were warmly received by Unram’s Rector, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., along with the Dean and lecturers from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP).
In his remarks, Prof. Bambang shared his appreciation for the visit and emphasized how important this kind of partnership is for advancing education and research across borders.
“This meeting is a great start for strengthening our international collaboration. We’re proud to be part of the CHANGES program, which focuses on critical and global perspectives in sustainable development education,” he said.
He also highlighted that this collaboration brings together universities from Germany, Indonesia, Argentina, Canada, and South Africa—working together to improve education that responds to global challenges.
Prof. Bambang took the opportunity to share Unram’s recent achievements, including its rank of 38th in the world in Technology Development and Innovation according to the 2025 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), and its place among the Top 120 universities in Southeast Asia based on QS Rankings.
“Joining this global initiative is not just about participating in a program, but also about walking together toward progress and shared goals,” he added.
