The Office of International Affairs (OIA) at Universitas Mataram and PT. Sun Cable Indonesia organized a General Lecture titled “Important Energy Transition Trends for NTB Province” along with the awarding of scholarships to 12 students of Universitas Mataram (Unram) for the 2023 period. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Tim Anderson, the President Director of PT. Sun Cable Indonesia, held at the Senate Meeting Room, Unram Rectorate on Monday (20/11).
Unram Rector, Prof. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., was also present at the General Lecture and the Scholarship Award Ceremony by PT. Sun Cable Indonesia. In his address, Prof. Bambang expressed gratitude for the visit of PT. Sun Cable Indonesia to Unram.
Prof. Bambang explained that Mr. Tim Anderson hails from Palmerston North, New Zealand, the same city where he resided while pursuing his education in New Zealand, creating an immediate sense of connection upon their first meeting.
Furthermore, Prof. Bambang elaborated that Sun Cable is a global company originating from Australia engaged in the energy and electricity sector, including the production of solar energy that is planned to be exported to Singapore through an underwater cable from Australia, passing through Indonesian waters, including the waters of Lombok Island.
“Although the electricity has not yet been sold to Singapore, the scholarships will still be awarded to Unram students. They are assisting us, especially in helping students complete their theses. I urge that the funds be used wisely, emphasizing the Faculty of Engineering, particularly focusing on theses with a renewable energy theme, research using solar panels for pump propulsion that can draw water from depths of 20-30 meters,” he emphasized.
