Background
The EU and ASEAN are joining forces to create a more connected and dynamic higher education landscape through the EU-ASEAN Sustainable Connectivity Package – Higher Education Programme (SCOPE-HE). This initiative is funded by the European Union, implemented by Nuffic, the Netherlands’ organisation for internationalisation in education, in partnership with DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service).
To strengthen its outreach, SCOPE-HE is seeking an enthusiastic Communication Intern to support content creation, graphic design, and video production efforts. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international education communication while working with a dynamic team.
Purpose of the internship
The primary objective of this internship is to provide young people with an opportunity to contribute to enhancing the visibility of the SCOPE-HE programme through various communication channels. The intern will support the Communication Manager in implementing the communication strategy and expanding the programme’s reach.
Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Communications Manager, the intern will collaborate with the programme team at the programme office at least three days a week, preferably on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and will be responsible for:
• Content Creation:
Develop engaging content for social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X), including text posts, images, and videos.
• Media Outreach and Partnerships Development:
Identify and research relevant media outlets across Southeast Asia that align with SCOPE-HE’s mission. Maintain a comprehensive media contact list and explore potential partnerships for disseminating SCOPE-HE’s news and information.
• Digital Engagement:
Support the management of SCOPE-HE’s social media presence, including scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, responding to inquiries, and analysing social media metrics.
• Communication Materials Development:
Contribute to the creation and updating of communication materials, such as brochures, flyers, presentations, and website content.
• Event Support:
Assist with the planning and execution of online or in-person events, including promoting events through communication channels.• Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor media coverage of SCOPE-HE and compile reports on communication activities.
Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements
We welcome applications from individuals with a strong interest in communications and demonstrate ability to create engaging content, manage social media, write clearly and concisely. Final-year students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. While a specific degree is not required, relevant experience or a portfolio showcasing your skills is highly valued. Applicants must have access to their own laptop for work purposes as equipment will not be provided.
• Indonesian citizen or holder of a permanent residency for Indonesia
• Age Range: 20 – 27 years old
• Strong social media skills and experience in managing social media platforms
• Ability to create engaging content tailored for different audiences
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g. Hootsuite) is a plus
• Experience with graphic design and video editing software (e.g. Canva, Adobe, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Inshot, Capcut) is a plus
• Interest in higher education development in the EU and ASEAN
Benefits
This internship provides a valuable opportunity to apply communication theories in real-world scenarios, gain insight into Southeast Asia’s media landscape, and develop essential communication skills. While this is an unpaid internship, a daily allowance of IDR 320.000 (gross) will be provided to support living costs. A certificate of completion will be awarded upon successful completion of the internship.

Selection Process
• Short listed candidates will be given a graphic design assignment for social media posting
• Selected candidates will be invited for an interview.
Timeline
Internship period: March – May (3 months). The exact date will be discussed with the selected candidate.

• Shortlisting and Assignment: 26 – 28 November 2025
• Interview: 1 December 2025
• Final Decision: 15 December 2025
• Specific tasks and deadlines will be discussed and agreed upon with the intern at the beginning of the internship
