Mataram, December 5, 2024 – The University of Mataram (Unram) warmly welcomed a delegation from Memorial University, Canada, represented by Prof. Bing Chen and Ms. Sarah Teo. Their arrival was graciously received by the Rector of the University of Mataram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., along with the Vice Rector for Planning, Collaboration, and Information Systems, Prof. Akmaluddin, ST., M.Sc(Eng), Ph.D.; the Secretary of the Office of International Affairs, Dr. Dewi Satria Elmiana; the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ir. Muhamad Syamsu Iqbal, S.T., M.T., Ph.D.; Vice Deans of the Faculty of Engineering; and several lecturers.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss the follow-up actions for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier in May 2024. Key topics of discussion included potential collaborations such as organizing an International Guest Lecture in the Faculty of Engineering, drafting a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and developing an Implementation Agreement (IA) with the Master’s Program in Civil Engineering.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Ir. Muhamad Syamsu Iqbal, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., expressed his enthusiasm for the proposed initiatives. “I am very interested in this partnership and hope we can implement it as soon as possible. This collaboration will open new opportunities for our faculty and students,” he remarked.

The visit also facilitated productive discussions on how the partnership could bring mutual benefits to both institutions, particularly in areas such as academic exchange, joint research collaboration, and capacity-building programs. Both parties recognized the significant potential of this collaboration to contribute to academic excellence and foster innovation in their respective fields.

As the meeting concluded, both parties expressed optimism about the future of this partnership and agreed to expedite the implementation of the planned initiatives. This collaboration is expected to bring mutual benefits and further solidify Unram’s reputation as a leading institution in international cooperation.
