Mataram, April 8, 2026 — The Office of International Affairs (OIA) of University of Mataram proudly hosted the Workshop NMT–DIES Training II 2026, organized as part of the National Multiplication Training (NMT) initiative. The program was collaboratively conducted by a consortium of Indonesian universities—Universitas Syiah Kuala, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Universitas Katolik Widya Mandala Surabaya, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram—in partnership with Universität Potsdam, and supported by DAAD.
This workshop aims to enhance the quality of international office management in higher education institutions across Indonesia, particularly in the regions of Bali, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB), Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), and Sulawesi. A total of 22 selected participants attended the program, representing various universities’ international offices. Due to limited capacity set by the partner institution in Germany, only 22 participants were accepted, despite high interest from institutions nationwide.
The event was attended by prominent figures, including Head of OIA UNRAM, I Wayan Agus Arimbawa, Ph.D.; Vice Head of OIA, Dewi Satria Elmiana, Ed.D.; Chairperson of NMT Indonesia 2026, Muzailin Affan, Ph.D.; Asbah Ambalawi, M.Hum.; Condro Wibowo, representing the committee of Universitas Jember; and Ida Puspita, M.A.Res., representing Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, along with all NMT-DIES 2026 participants.
In his remarks, the Head of OIA of Universitas Syiah Kuala emphasized that the workshop serves as a valuable platform for sharing experiences and best practices among international offices from western to eastern Indonesia. He expressed hope that this initiative would lead to sustainable follow-up programs and continued collaboration.
Meanwhile, I Wayan Agus Arimbawa welcomed all participants warmly and expressed his appreciation that OIA UNRAM has been recognized as a model for other universities’ international offices. He highlighted the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange in strengthening global engagement across institutions.
The workshop featured a comprehensive session delivered by Dewi Satria Elmiana, Ed.D., who presented insights on the development of OIA UNRAM, including practical tips and strategies, as well as challenges faced during its early establishment. The session was followed by an interactive discussion and Q&A, where participants explored key topics such as institutional challenges, effective strategies for international partnerships, and approaches to attracting international students.
This activity is expected to serve as a meaningful platform for knowledge exchange and mutual learning. As emphasized throughout the discussions, the focus is not on determining which institution is the best, but on how University of Mataram can contribute and create a positive impact for other universities in strengthening their internationalization efforts.
