Mataram, February 28, 2025 – University Of Mataram (Unram) and Central Queensland University (CQU) have officially established a collaboration in the fields of research and academics, aiming to enhance the quality of education and research at both institutions. This collaborative meeting took place in the Rector’s Conference Room, Unram Rectorate. By discussing the New Colombo Plan on cooperation in the academic and research fields. Through the meeting, the two institutions discussed various collaboration opportunities that include research, student exchanges, and the development of the agriculture and livestock sector in Indonesia.
The Rector of Unram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D., warmly welcomed the arrival of the CQU delegation and hoped that through this collaboration it could improve research and academics of both institutions. He was also very enthusiastic about the student exchange program that can enhance students’ learning experience.
The CQU delegation included Associate Professor Karen Jean Harper, Ph.D., Saba Sinai-Mameghany, and seven students, Kymberley Clowie Teelow, Megen Cate Ingram, Mya Rosemary Kidd, Madleline Charlotte Price, Tina Louise Vale, Tyler Morgan Aspinall, and Holli Ann Arthur.
Associate Professor Karen Harper stated that she has been working with Prof. Dahlanuddin from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry Unram for a long time and hopes that this collaboration will develop into various sectors in the future.
📋The form of cooperation:
- International Research Collaboration in Agriculture, Engineering, Marine Science, Health, and Law. The main focus of this research is to improve the production and quality of Bali beef through optimization of feed and fattening systems.
- Student and Lecturer Exchange Program. CQU and Unram will explore a student exchange program, allowing students from both universities to study and gain international experience.
- Research and Development in Health and Law. CQU has excellence in paramedicine, so opportunities for cooperation in health study programs and medical research will be explored further. And CQU’s Faculty of Law, which excels in criminology and justice, also opens up the possibility of academic collaboration with Unram in the field of law.
- Strengthening the Agriculture and Livestock Sector. With the Institute for Future Farming System at CQU, this cooperation will support innovation in agriculture and livestock systems, especially in the development of the Bali beef value chain.
Additional Activities During the Visit
In addition to the academic collaboration discussions, the CQU delegation also participated in several activities during their visit. On February 27th, they attended an International Community Service program, which was a collaborative effort involving multiple universities, government institutions, and NGOs. The following day, the delegation attended a general lecture at the Faculty of Animal Science, where they engaged with faculty members and students. Furthermore, they had the opportunity to experience Unram’s campus innovation by trying the new electric bike “Re:flow”, which they used to explore various areas within the university.
Through this visit and collaboration, it is hoped that the University of Mataram and Central Queensland University can contribute significantly to the advancement of science and the improvement of community welfare, particularly in the agriculture and livestock sector.
