MATARAM – University of Mataram (UNRAM) and Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday, May 27th, 2024. The signing ceremony took place in the Rector Meeting Room at the University of Mataram and was attended by Dr. Sonja Knutson and Dr. Andrew Kim representatives from Memorial University of Newfoundland Canada.
The MoU was signed by the Rector of the University of Mataram, Prof. Bambang Hari Kusumo, and Dr. Sonja Knutson, representing Memorial University of Newfoundland. This agreement marks the beginning of a promising partnership aimed at fostering academic and research collaboration between the two universities.
Prof. Bambang Hari Kusumo expressed his enthusiasm for the new partnership, stating, “We are always open to partnerships that enhance our academic and research capabilities. We hope this MoU will soon be followed by a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and Implementation Agreement (IA), paving the way for concrete collaborative projects.”
Dr. Sonja Knutson highlighted the potential for collaborative research activities, noting, “Unram could collaborate in research activities across various fields.” She emphasized that the collaboration could extend to diverse areas such as fisheries and marine sciences, education, animal husbandry, and more.
This MoU sets the stage for both universities to engage in joint research projects, faculty and student exchanges, and the sharing of resources and expertise. It aims to enhance the academic experience and research outcomes for both institutions, leveraging their respective strengths and unique regional insights.
