Mataram, Indonesia – 23 July 2026 – The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Mataram (UNRAM), officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korea–Indonesia Marine Technology Cooperation Research Center (MTCRC) on 23 July 2026, marking a significant milestone in expanding international collaboration in education, research, human resource development, and community engagement.
The signing ceremony was officially opened by Mahardika Rizqi Himawan, S.I.K., M.Si., Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture, and attended by department heads, study programme coordinators, academic staff, and representatives from Korea–Indonesia MTCRC. The partnership reflects the Faculty’s commitment to strengthening its global engagement while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration in marine science, fisheries, environmental technology, and sustainable agriculture.
In his opening remarks, Mahardika Rizqi Himawan emphasised that international partnerships play an essential role in enhancing the quality of higher education through the implementation of the university’s Three Pillars of Higher Education (Tri Dharma). He highlighted that this collaboration is expected to create opportunities for joint research, academic exchanges, international internship programmes, scientific seminars, professional training, and collaborative publications. These initiatives will enrich the academic experience of students and faculty members while strengthening the institution’s capacity to address global challenges in agriculture, marine resources, and environmental sustainability.
Established in 2018 through a bilateral initiative between the Governments of the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Indonesia, the Korea–Indonesia Marine Technology Cooperation Research Center (MTCRC) serves as a collaborative research platform operated by the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) in partnership with Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). The centre focuses on advancing marine science and technology through collaborative research, capacity building, professional training, and innovation to support the sustainable management of marine resources. Over the years, MTCRC has actively partnered with numerous Indonesian universities to promote academic and research excellence.
The newly signed MoU reinforces the Faculty of Agriculture’s commitment to broadening its international partnerships and fostering impactful collaborations that contribute to educational quality, research development, and innovation. Through this strategic partnership, both institutions aim to develop collaborative programmes that generate meaningful benefits for students, researchers, and the wider community while supporting the internationalisation agenda of Universitas Mataram.
This collaboration also reflects Universitas Mataram’s continued dedication to building strong global networks that advance sustainable development through knowledge exchange, innovation, and international academic cooperation.
