Mataram, Indonesia – June 20, 2024 – The International Relations Study Program at the Faculty of Law, Social, and Political Sciences, University of Mataram, proudly announces the departure of 39 students for international internships under the Certified Internship and Independent Study Program (MSIB). These students will be interning at four prestigious universities abroad: The National University of Singapore, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Walailak University in Thailand, and Pukyong National University in South Korea. This program, now in its second year, facilitates invaluable international experience for students. It also serves as a platform for alumni from previous batches to share their insights and experiences.
The internship program begins with the departure of the first group to Malaysia on June 20, 2024. Subsequent departures to South Korea, Singapore, and Thailand will occur on June 29 and 30, 2024. The distribution of students is as follows: 22 students to Malaysia, 12 students to Thailand, 3 students to Singapore, and 2 students to South Korea.
The MSIB program selection criteria included proposal submissions, language proficiency, Grade Point Average (GPA). According to Lalu Puttrawandi Karjaya, the coordinator of MBKM, the target countries for the MSIB program in 2023 were limited to Malaysia and Thailand, with only 12 students participating. This year, the program has expanded to include 39 students due to the availability of more affordable opportunities abroad, with costs shared between the university and the students.
“With very open opportunities to go abroad at a relatively low cost, students are increasingly choosing to gain international experience and engage in humanitarian projects,” stated Lalu Puttrawandi Karjaya.
This initiative aligns with the University of Mataram’s commitment to providing students with global exposure and practical experience, fostering their development as well-rounded professionals ready to contribute to society.
